PRIME MATTER
De Es Schwertberger has created a series of oilpaintings (STONEPERIOD 1973-1979) which focus on a world solely made out of stone. Its inhabitants are the STONEMEN who struggle very hard to gain control over their hard lives by trying to expand their fields of vision. Arranged in sequence these meta-realistic paintings add up to a whole that is much more than the sum of its parts.
